Sick Note

Statutory Sick Pay New entitlement for those under age 16 or over 65

With effect from 1st October 2006, important changes will be made to the definition of an ‘employee’ for SSP purposes as a result of the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006.

Currently, persons under the age of 16 or over the age of 65 do not qualify for SSP.

The practical effect of the changes will be to remove these age limits on entitlement to SSP for all unlinked periods of incapacity for work beginning on or after 1st October 2006.
